The BSc Accounting and Finance degree was introduced at Universal College Lahore in 1998. This programme aims to provide a thorough grounding in Accounting and Finance, within a strong social science framework. The courses are designed to ensure the development of necessary critical skills to enable students to undertake a variety of occupations where an understanding of Accounting and Finance will be useful. The London School of Economics and Political Science is working with professional accountancy bodies such as the ACCA, CIMA and ICEAW so that students wishing to gain professinal accontancy qualifications after this degree can get exemptions for some of the course covered.

Units offered for BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance

A student has to study Twelve units in three years, of which, Eight are compulsory units

Four compulsory foundation units:
  • Introduction to Economics
  • Principles of Accounting
  • Mathematics1(Half unit)
  • Statistics1(Half unit)
  • Priciples of Banking and Finance

Four compulsory intermediate units

  • Microeconomics
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Reporting
  • Management Accounting

Four optional units from

  • Elements of Econometrics and Economic Statistics
  • Information Systems and Organisation
  • Macroeconomics
  • Business and Management in Global Context
  • The Law of Business Organisations
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Management and Innovation of e-business

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the BSc degrees, an applicant must:

  • normally be at least 17 years old and
  • have GCSE/GCE 'O' level in Mathematics and English Language with at least grade C or equivalent and
  • have two subjects at GCE 'A' Level, plus at least three further subjects at GCSE/GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C) or
  • three subjects at GCE 'A' level (with one 'A' level at not less than grade D) or
  • three subjects at GCE 'A' level, plus one further subject at GCSE/GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C) or
  • two subjects at GCE 'A' level, plus two further subjects at GCE 'AS' level or
  • BA/BSc/BCom from any recognised university of Pakistan or
  • High School Diploma plus two APs (excluding Studio Art)

If you do not meet the Entrance Requirements for the degree programme, you have the option of registering for the following qualifications which provide an entry route to all degrees in the field of Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences:
